This peeling mask has been a part of my skincare routine for years now and I’m finally getting around to talking about it. Typical Midori. -__- This is also one of the lesser discussed Innisfree masks and I just want it to receive the love it deserves.

*Skincare products are very subjective in nature. Everybody has different skin-types and different needs. Please keep in mind that what works for me may not work for you. Also, always do a patch test before adding a new product into your repertoire.

WHAT IS GOMMAGE? The word “gommage” comes from a French word, which means “to erase”. If instant gratification is your thing, then you will most definitely enjoy Gommage masks. They tend to be gentler masks or packs; you leave them on your skin for a couple of minutes and then massage it. What happens as you massage is all the dead skin cells on your face ball up along with the mask itself. After you rinse everything off, you will have silky-smooth skin! I’m not even kidding.

THE PRODUCT: This mask from Innisfree has a crumbly, grainy consistency where you can feel the texture of the product as you apply it on to your bare face.

It comes packaged in a mint green squeezy-tube with a white lid.

This mask contains both AHA (Glycolic Acid) and BHA (Salicylic Acid), which helps exfoliate your skin to reveal the extremely satisfactory soft skin you’re left with after you rinse. While those ingredients are there to smooth out the skin, the different extracts in this mask (Green Barley, Rice, Green Tea etc) are present to help brighten it.

It has a mild, powdery fragrance. It’s not too overwhelming.

It’s not a mask that you leave on for hours on end. It cannot sit on your face for as long as a clay mask would. It won’t peel off perfectly along the contours of your face like other peeling masks would.

You take some on the back of your hand, spread it across your face avoiding the eyes and lips and let it sit for 3 minutes maximum. The key is to not let the mask dry completely. Then, start rubbing your face. The product will bunch up into tiny balls and will work its magic then. After you’re done rubbing, rinse your face with lukewarm water. And voilà! Baby-soft, smooth skin!

If you have a lot of dry patches on your face, this mask will be able to take care of those over a course of time. I’d recommend using this mask once a week. Just like any other mask, honestly.

This is, easily, one of the best peeling masks I’ve personally tried. It has never irritated my skin nor has it broken me out. It’s one of those masks I know I can rely on. It leaves my skin smooth, soft, clean and bright – all in three minutes.

This is what it should look like once you start rubbing the product after it has been on your face for a couple of minutes.

♥ OVERALL: I think this is a great peeling mask. It’s one of my personal favourites and I’m sure you’re well aware how hard I can be on products that don’t work for me. I will say, though – this contains both AHA and BHA. Make sure your skin isn’t sensitive to these acids before you purchase it.
